Orbitless

Exploring the trade-off between holding on and moving across a wall.

Current stageImplementation paths under evaluation

My contributionI compared different adhesion and movement approaches and developed an initial structural concept.

Internal mechanism concept render; performance is not yet validated.

The question

How can a wall-moving system stay attached while moving smoothly?

Exploration

The portfolio includes comparisons of existing approaches, structural sketches, a proposed internal mechanism, circuit and code images, and scenario renders. The design explores vacuum adhesion and omnidirectional movement; their performance remains to be tested.

Early structural sketches.

Comparing structure and movement

The structural proposal brings adhesion and movement into the same object. I compared possible approaches, while keeping the trade-off between secure attachment and smooth movement in view.

Structural sketches showing the proposed arrangement.

What I did

I compared different adhesion and movement approaches and developed an initial structural concept.

Where it stands

I am still evaluating implementation paths. Wall adhesion, movement, and cleaning performance have not been established through the supplied evidence.

What I am learning

Secure adhesion and smooth movement involve a trade-off. Small-scale experiments are needed; drawings alone cannot establish whether the system will work.

Next question

Use small-scale experiments to examine adhesion and movement before considering a larger system.
