BandBud

A portable soap wristband for children.

Current stageConcept refinement

My contributionI mapped the needs of children and caregivers and developed an initial functional design for the wristband.

Supplied wristband CAD geometry displayed as a fastened closed loop, with the soap housing kept rigid.

The question

How could soap become easier for a child to carry and use?

Exploration

The portfolio brings together wristband sketches, dimensional studies, soap material trials, and images of a physical wristband. These materials document the exploration; they do not yet establish how children will use the final design.

Soap-making trials, including the initial paw-shaped sample.

From shape to wearing

The wristband needs to be comfortable to wear and simple to open. The sketches and physical forms let me consider those interactions together with the soap housing.

What I did

I mapped the needs of children and caregivers and developed an initial functional design for the wristband.

Where it stands

The design is still being refined. The paw-shaped soap shown in the material trials is an initial test, rather than the final soap insert.

What I am learning

Adding functions does not necessarily improve an experience. Wearing comfort and simple operation deserve attention too. BandBud has no digital features.

Next question

Refine the wearing and opening experience, then assess the core interaction before adding complexity.
